Come check out Empty Walls Art Auction

EMPTY WALLS is an all day event where artists from the community, staff, teachers and talented art students team up and create art the entire day at Niles North High School.  At the end of the day, they graciously donate their artwork to be a part of the silent auction which helps the 2016 School Chest charity, Chicago Coalition for the Homeless, and Niles North Art Department scholarships.  Please join us for this wonderful event!

Where: Niles North High School, Student Commons, 9800 N. Lawler Ave, Skokie, IL

When: Saturday, April 16, 2016

All types of artwork will be represented at the auction including: painting, photography, drawing, printmaking, watercolor, jewelry, fiber arts/clothing, and ceramics. There will also be donations from professional artists and educators in the community up for auction. Proceeds from Empty Walls go to Chicago for the Homeless. Chicago Coalition for the Homeless is the only non-profit in Illinois dedicated to advocating for public policies that curb and can ultimately end homelessness. The organization leads strategic campaigns, community outreach, and public policy initiatives that target the lack of affordable housing in metropolitan Chicago and across Illinois. The Second City Comes BACK to North!

Fresh, fast and spectacularly funny, The Second City celebrates over 55 years of cutting edge satiric revues and continues to launch the careers of comedy superstars. This irresistible new show features classic material made famous by Second City stars like Tina Fey, Stephen Colbert, Steve Carell as well as brand new scenes, songs and improv straight from their sold out shows in Chicago and Toronto.

Tickets for this one-night only event are $30 general seating; $50 limited cabaret seating, and $10 student-only general admission seating with an ID. Niles North Presents “13” the musical 3/10-12

WHAT’S IT LIKE TO BE 13? 13

 Niles North Theatre Department presents this year’s musical “13” on March 10 through 12 in the Auditorium at 9800 Lawler, Skokie. “13” is a Broadway musical, with music and lyrics by Jason Robert Brown, based on the book by Dan Elish and Robert Horn.

Imagine, at 13, being taken from the pulsing power of New York to small-town Indiana. A geek, the cute girl, the faker, the jock, the loser: everyone is trying to fit in and be noticed. The New York Times says “it has on tap that natural radioactive energy that makes young teenagers so appealing.”

Performances are 7 p.m. on Friday, March 11 and 2 p.m. and 7 p.m. on Saturday, March 12. A free community performance will be held at 10 a.m. on Thursday, March 10.  Call the Box Office at 847-626-2122 or visit www.nntheatre.com. Tickets are $10.

Niles Township D219 Art Show 3/1-4/8

Always a treat to see the D219 visual arts talent!

Over 150 works of art created by D219 art students will be on display until April 8.
Please stop by the east side of the library. Sculpture is in the case in the entrance near the book drop, 2-D work is displayed in the gallery, the large wall near the book checkout and also on the 2nd floor.

Auroris Dance Company Presents DELIRIUM

The 2015-2016 Auroris Dance Company presents “Delirium” on February 4 through 6  in the Niles North High School Auditorium at 9800 Lawler, Skokie.  There will be a free community performance on Thursday, February 4 at 10:00 a.m. and performances will be on Friday, February 5 and Saturday, February 6 at 7:00 p.m. Tickets may be purchased at the door for $10 or contacting Deanna Sortino at deasor@d219.org or 847-626-2129. The dancers will be performing all different styles of dance including jazz, modern, hip-hop, Bollywood, and ballet!

Guest choreographers include Sarah Gonsiorowski, Corey Nagel, Santo Scavuzzo III, and Terry Turner (NN Alum). The company consists of 31 dancers under the guidance of Artistic Director, Deanna Sortino and Assistant Director, Danielle Wilder. Captains are seniors Jessica Badofsky, Anna Hershinow, Mi Lee, Olivia Meyers, and Noam Ron. Seniors are Alexis Benitez, Kevin Dumagpi, Davin Kaiser, Kagen Quiballo, Maia Sepaishvili, Vianey Toscano, Jazmyn Trinos, and Jisha Varughese. Juniors are Jasmine Gloria, Cindy Liang, Juliana Tichota, Gabby Ubaldo, and Jibran Umrani. Sophomores are Marcus Ambubuyog, Chloe Ballais, Mollie Chez, Tera Eliasoff, Emma Groner, Sharon Joseph, Sally Le, and Julia Schneider. Freshmen are Nicole Aleman, Yasmin Kaiser, Heline Kim, Sophia Mareczko, and Emiko Van Horn.
